WORLD WATER MONITORING DAY IN WILLOWS!

World Water Monitoring Day is an international education and outreach program that builds public awareness and involvement in protecting water resources around the world by engaging citizens to conduct basic monitoring of their local water bodies. The water monitoring kit was obtained by GCRCD from the NRCS and presented to Mrs. Egly's 4th grade classroom at Murdock Elementary School in Willows. Students will use the kit in an outdoor creek project, allowing them the opportunity to participate in a valuable hands-on activity. Results from the testing can be shared with the rest of the world on the website www.worldwatermonitoringday.org. Go Murdock Mallards!!

Back Row, left to right: Claudia Street, GCRCD Conservation Planner; Jill Egly, 4th grade teacher at Murdock Elementary School; Kathy Landini, GCRCD Associate Director.

Front Row: Maci Amaro (holding Water Testing Kit), Saul Galvan, Matthew Bateman and Julie Thao

GLENN COUNTY FARM DAY GETS CLEANED UP WITH GCRCD HELP

An annual event for all 4th grade students in Glenn County, the Farm Day event is organized by the Farm Bureau's Young Farmer and Ranchers and provides students with a glimpse of life in agriculture. GCRCD Executive Officer, Kandi Manhart, and GCRCD Board President, Mike Landini, engaged students in a hands-on activity comparing the filtration capabilities of soil, rocks and grasses in their "Water Quality - Dirty to Clean" experiment.
