Since 1987, the local Resource Conservation District (RCD) has offered an Annual Speak–Off Contest for High School students. Created by the California Association of Resource Conservation Districts (CARCD), this contest is open to all Glenn County students in the 9th – 12th grade levels.

FIND YOUR VOICE FOR CONSERVATION! 

The 2026 Annual Speak-Off Competition is here—and there’s a NEW PROCESS this year! High school students in grades 9–12 are invited to learn, research, and share their perspective on an important conservation topic.

 This year’s topic:
What are the different effects that native vs. non-native invasive plants have on our ecosystems, and why does it matter to the work of Resource Conservation Districts?

NEW PROCESS: Students will move through multiple steps of the competition, giving them the opportunity to build their knowledge, communication skills, and confidence along the way.

 First step is due September 30, 2026!

 Cash awards are available!

Teachers: This is a great opportunity to get your students involved in conservation, public speaking, and real-world environmental issues.
